Darryl West

Darryl West is currently a Senior Advisor at BCG with over 35 years of experience helping build global financial services organizations, holding executive leadership positions across technology, operations, and business management. Most recently, from 2015 to 2020, Darryl led the HSBC technology team as the Chief Information Officer, overseeing more than 40,000 people to make banking simpler, better and faster for over 38 million customers in 67 countries. Under Darryl's leadership, the technology team became a catalyst for innovation, creating leading capabilities in Agile and DevOps at global scale, using biometrics to make customer authentication easier and more secure, pioneering the use of Cloud and Artificial Intelligence in financial services, and establishing strategic partnerships with digital giants and new startups.

Prior to joining HSBC, Darryl was Group CIO and Deputy Head of Technology and Operations at Barclays PLC. Before that, he was Group CIO at Lloyds Banking Group, where he led the technology team to achieve the integration of Lloyds TSB and Halifax Bank of Scotland, the creation of TSB as a separate bank, and the transformation of the Lloyds Banking Group IT organization. In recognition of this work at Lloyds, Darryl received the 2013 NASSCOM Global

Leadership Award for Business Transformation using IT. In addition to Modern, Darryl is engaged as a Senior Advisor for the Boston Consulting Group, and is a member of the advisory board for Cap Gemini.
