Krista is a business-minded attorney with over 10 years of legal experience. As Modern’s Vice President, Senior Legal Counsel, she is responsible for leading Modern’s legal function, including client contracting, risk management, compliance, and procurement.
Prior to joining Modern, Krista was the Senior Associate General Counsel for both Dahl Consulting and Doherty Staffing Solutions, sister talent organizations servicing clients across multiple states and industries. She was the primary transactional attorney responsible for contract drafting and negotiation for a wide range of staffing services – staff augmentation, direct search, payrolling, and managed service provider programs. Additionally, Krista advised leadership and field staff on legal and compliance issues, oversaw corporate legal training, and was a core member of the Multi-State Compliance Team monitoring and advising on regulatory changes impacting the talent industry.
Prior to Dahl/Doherty, Krista worked for Medica Health Plans first in the procurement group and then as the Manager of Sales Operations for the enterprise. She advised key business partners on how to create a strategic, cohesive contracting approach that reduced cost and risk while maximizing performance in the highly regulated space of health insurance. Prior to that, Krista successfully led an Estate Planning firm's expansion into a new market, opening and overseeing the legal work for two new branch offices.
Krista holds a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies, graduating magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis. Krista received her Juris Doctorate from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where she focused on international law, contracts, and alternate dispute resolution.
