Apostol Nikolov

Chief Financial Officer
Modern stands out for the exceptional caliber of its people and the energy and agility of a true startup. Having spent my career advising and building organizations through transformation, I value the opportunity to contribute from the inside at a firm that is reimagining what executive solutions can look like.

Apostol Nikolov is the Chief Financial Officer at Modern, where he leads the finance and legal functions, overseeing financial planning& analysis, general accounting, contracting, and pricing. He also serves as a strategic partner to the founders and the extended team, helping shape the firm's growth strategy and long-term financial direction.

He is a finance executive and strategic advisor with more than 20 years of experience who brings a rare combination of Big Four advisory depth and hands-on operating leadership, having built finance organizations, advised on complex transactions, navigated transformations, and partnered with executive teams through their most defining moments.

Apostol spent 17 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC),rising to Managing Director in M&A Transaction Services, where he advised C-suite executives and Private Equity investors on complex acquisitions and divestitures ranging from middle-market deals to multibillion-dollar transactions.

His passion for building and scaling organizations drove him into operating roles across two Private Equity-backed, high-growth acquisition platforms, completing ten acquisitions and one successful exit between them -first as VP of Finance at WilliamsMarston, a management consultancy, and subsequently as CFO at Noble Fueling Solutions, a service provider to fueling stations and critical infrastructure.

Apostol holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Accounting and Finance from Ithaca College. He is a licensed CPA in New York State.
